Week 25; A Poem a Day

There are giants
Hidden in beautiful places
   Constantly humming
They boil the river’s water
Just for the steam
   They crave the heat
Eyes glowing red
Long, slow blinks
They stand above a landscape
With pleasure
And anxiety
Feed us
   They say
And we will keep you safe
   We will let you live
In comfort
In your kingdom cities
Away from these wild lands
Where we are
Dig deep for us
Extract for us
   The dark remains
Of your creation stories
   You made us
From the earth
From the hardest elements
We will stand tall here
   For ages
