Week 22; A Poem a Day

5/29/16

Seek mountaintops
In moderation
Seek often
Transfiguration
Seek always
Transformation

6/2/16

Post Office
In line
Standing
For what’s due to you
After those before you
The pads of your feet
Bear the pressure
Impatiently
The weight grows
As your wait builds
But those around
May feel the burden greater
Not different, just more of it
Just listen
Open your ears
Pinch shut your frontal lobe
For a bit
And eavesdrop
You’ll hear stories
Familiar
Questions
Like your own
Labored breath
Heavy sighs
The clink of clasps
Holding velvet ropes
Tied in knots
Correspondence
Didn’t use to take this long
But here your are
Facing the other’s back
Reveling in eight-inch movement
Counting down the bodies
Till your call
Till freedom
Then it comes
And your gone
The queue fades
In your wake
Pity those who still wait
In order
For service
