Week 7; A Poem a Day

On certain days
The color red catches my eye
More than any other

Like an old friend
Whose silhouette stride
I could never mistake for another

What if the only thing
That separated us
Were perforated lines

A little tug
Was all that’s needed
To take us apart

What if we left
Our flat, shiny, cellophane hearts
There on the flat, shiny, stone floor

Just there
In little groupings
Marking works of beauty and truth

That called our hearts
In the first place
Before we even knew what was happening
