Como Ella Lo Amó

In the heart of the Historic Northeast of Kansas City, MO, sets an historic Catholic parish: St. Anthony’s. The congregation has changed with the neighborhood from a majority of Italian families at the time of its founding, to a majority of Hispanic families. (Although, also like the neighborhood, there is still much diversity.) Every December, the church celebrates this heritage and honors the Blessed Virgin Mary with the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

This multimedia piece was created by capturing photographs, audio, and video of the evening celebration at the parish. Interviews of parishoners and the pastor were conducted in following days. We tried to capture the strong devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe that so many individuals, families, and communities have carried with them from Mexico and Latin America. And more specifically, we tried to capture that same faith within the St. Anthony community and how it is manifest in the fiesta grande on December 12th.
